My name is Laura Cline and I teach English at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. This blog is my portfolio for continuing contract, but also a place to share my resources and my experiences as a teacher of college composition. When I moved back to Prescott, after graduating with my M.A.from the University of Arizona in 2008, I thought I would just find a job to do for a short time while my husband finished his R.N. at Yavapai College. In the Fall of 2008, I taught my first ENG 100 class as an adjunct, and I knew that I wanted to teach more at this wonderful college. I loved working with the diverse student body, the supportive staff, and the exceptional physical and instructional resources that Yavapai provides. When I was hired full time two years later, I couldn’t believe my luck. Although I didn’t plan to move back to my hometown and stay, this job makes me happy to back as a Prescottonian. As I was creating this portfolio, I realized how much I wanted to include, how many things I had to be proud of, and how many students had moved or impressed me with their creativity and hard work. This is my journey through my first few years as a Roughrider, but first…
This is the video that I share with my online ENG 102 students at the beginning of the semester:
